These are the pictures revealed by the cameras installed in space probes and fired into space to explore our solar system: fiery red protuberances on the glaring sun, dark streams of lava flowing on Venus, gigantic dust storms ranting across Mars. Director and journalist Michael Benson has edited the impressive landscapes of these exotic celestial globes into a unique photo collection. For years he dug meticulously in the archives, digitally reworked many photos, assembled single exposures into panoramic mosaics and rendered some black and white images into colored in the way the human eye would actually see them. The result is an unheard-of kaleidoscope of distant worlds, a large-sized volume of stunning quality.
